In a heartbreaking turn of events, a well-loved Christian influencer and experienced hiker was found dead near a trailhead in Arizona’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve after she went missing last week.<\/p>\n

Hannah Moody, 31, was discovered Thursday around noon, approximately 600 yards off the trail near the Gateway Trailhead in Scottsdale. Her disappearance had sparked a large-scale search involving drones, helicopters, and foot patrols after she failed to return from a hike the previous evening.<\/p>\n

Moody, known to her 44,000 Instagram followers for her breathtaking sunset hikes and deeply personal faith reflections, was reported missing Wednesday night around 7:50 p.m. by concerned friends. Scottsdale police soon located her car, which was still parked at the preserve’s lot, and began an extensive search that was suspended late that night and resumed at dawn Thursday. Her body was ultimately found by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Air Unit.<\/p>\n

Police have stated that there were no signs of foul play or trauma. The official cause of death is pending a medical examiner’s report.<\/p>\n

Moody’s final Instagram post, made Thursday before her hike, revealed she was well-prepared with “about five gallons of water.” The post captured her signature joy in the outdoors and her spiritual gratitude, a theme that marked many of her videos.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the week, she posted a video in which she tearfully reflected on God’s blessings\u2014even in seemingly disappointing changes. Speaking directly to her followers, she shared how switching to a lower-paying day shift at work was actually a gift from God, as it allowed her to once again hike at sunset.<\/p>\n

“God is literally blessing me with the day shift because He knows how much I freaking love the sunset,” Moody said, panning her phone to the golden desert skyline. “Let this be a reminder that whatever challenge you’re going through, there’s probably something good about it.”<\/p>\n

She ended the video with a simple benediction: “Peace and love. Look at this view. So pretty. It’s so pretty.”<\/p>\n

Friends and family describe Hannah as someone whose love for nature was matched only by her love for people and her passion for God.<\/p>\n

“She loves the outdoors. If you could put her somewhere where she would be happiest, it would be outside in nature,” said her friend Lauryn in an interview with Fox 10 Phoenix.<\/p>\n

Jessica, another close friend, emphasized that Moody was no novice to hiking. “She does hikes literally weekly like this, so she knows what to do,” she said.<\/p>\n

Her brother, Joel Moody, paid tribute in a Facebook post, calling Hannah “a fierce competitor” and a “nomad, a free spirit” who was always searching for a place to call home.<\/p>\n

“She was a wanderer, journeying with companions, settling for a time, then moving on,” Joel wrote. “Driven, putting her heart and mind to a goal and pursuing it relentlessly.”<\/p>\n

For many of her followers, Hannah Moody was more than a hiker\u2014she was a gentle, faith-filled voice who brought light into a digital world often filled with noise.<\/p>\n
