A Texas family is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of a husband, father, and grandfather after a tragic accident during a weekend hunting trip.<\/p>\n

Jose Ramirez, 45, of Grapevine, accidentally shot himself while removing a firearm from a vehicle during a late-night hunting outing in Marion County, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). Game wardens arrived just after midnight and attempted life-saving measures, but Ramirez sadly did not survive.<\/p>\n

His loved ones described him as a devoted family man who meant everything to those around him. \u201cMy father, Jose Ramirez, passed away unexpectedly, and our family is heartbroken. My dad meant the world to me,\u201d his son wrote on a GoFundMe<\/a> page created to help with funeral expenses. \u201cHe was the pillar of our home, the provider for our family, and the one who always made sure we were taken care of.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ramirez\u2019s family said his greatest joy was his granddaughter, who is about to celebrate her first birthday. \u201cShe was his greatest blessing and the light of his life,\u201d his son shared.<\/p>\n

Those who knew Ramirez remember him as a hard worker who cared deeply for his family and community. He spent years working in restaurants around the Dallas suburb of Grapevine, including Kirby\u2019s Steakhouse, Son of a Butcher, and Rockin\u2019 S Express Bar & Grill at Silver Lake Marina. The Facebook page \u201cGrapevine Edit\u201d posted a heartfelt tribute, noting how many locals knew and loved him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe taught me the most important lessons in life \u2014 to never give up, to work hard for what you want, and to always do what makes you happy,\u201d his daughter wrote. \u201cHe believed that true success comes from loving what you do and living with a happy heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a post on X, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department extended condolences to Ramirez\u2019s loved ones and urged hunters to take firearm safety seriously. \u201cAlways handle all firearms as if they are loaded, keep muzzles pointed in a safe direction, and take time to unload your firearm before placing or removing it from a vehicle,\u201d the agency advised.<\/p>\n

Game wardens said they wish tragedies like this could be avoided and encouraged everyone to be mindful when handling firearms, especially during hunting season.<\/p>\n

As the Grapevine community rallies around the Ramirez family, friends and neighbors are offering prayers and support. Though his life ended far too soon, those who loved him say his legacy of kindness, hard work, and faith will live on.<\/p>\n
