New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is showing signs of hopeful recovery days after he was shot in the abdomen during an early-morning incident in Midtown Manhattan. In a heartfelt update shared on Instagram, the 28-year-old athlete expressed deep gratitude \u2014 and pointed to his faith \u2014 as he continues to fight through his injuries.<\/p>\n

“God is real. God is powerful,” Boyd wrote in his Instagram Stories post, alongside a photo from his hospital bed. “I’m sorry, I have no words at the moment \u2026 Just grateful! I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone.”<\/p>\n

The encouraging message is the latest public update since the shooting, which left Boyd in critical but stable condition. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters that he recently spoke with Boyd and was relieved by his mindset and determination.<\/p>\n

“That’s what eases my mind, is that he’s in good spirits,” Glenn said ahead of the team’s Week 12 game against the Baltimore Ravens. “His wife and his kid, they’re in good spirits, and he will walk away from this just fine.”<\/p>\n

Glenn admitted that the incident weighed heavily on him, especially knowing that Boyd and his wife had recently welcomed a child. “The first thing I thought about \u2014 he just had a kid,” Glenn said. “I’m thinking about his wife, I’m thinking about his kid, and I want to make sure that he’s OK.”<\/p>\n

Authorities have released photos of the suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting. Police described the man as having a medium complexion and wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, and multicolored sneakers. He was last seen carrying a black bookbag. No name has been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n

Boyd, who signed with the Jets in the offseason, has been on injured reserve since August due to a training camp injury. While the team does not have a timeline for his release from the hospital, Glenn said the positive tone in their conversation gave him confidence in Boyd’s eventual recovery.<\/p>\n

“There’s a process to this, which I won’t get into,” the coach added, “but I’m happy at the fact that he’s going to come out of this thing really, really well.”<\/p>\n
