A Georgia community is mourning the loss of a beloved pastor whose life and ministry left a lasting spiritual impact on countless lives.<\/p>\n

Rev. Derek Dumas, longtime pastor of Greater Lizzieboro Baptist Church in Macon, passed away<\/a> Friday morning at the age of 53. According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, Dumas died of reported natural causes at Atrium Hospital, surrounded by his family.<\/p>\n

For more than two decades, Dumas faithfully led his congregation, stepping into the role after his grandfather, Rev. Moses Dumas, passed away. What followed was a ministry marked by consistency, compassion, and a deep commitment to serving both his church and the broader community.<\/p>\n

Dumas was actively involved in several organizations, including the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia and the National Baptist Convention U.S.A. He was also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., reflecting a life that extended beyond the pulpit into leadership and mentorship.<\/p>\n

His educational journey reflected his dedication to both service and spiritual growth. Dumas earned a Bachelor of Science in public administration from Georgia College and State University and later pursued a Master of Science in theology from Southern Christian University.<\/p>\n
