Authorities say the search for fugitive dad Travis Decker, accused of killing his three young daughters, has taken a new turn after bones were discovered during the latest manhunt in Washington state.<\/p>\n

Fox 13 Seattle<\/em> reported that the two-day sweep of campgrounds near Leavenworth, Washington, involved more than 100 FBI Seattle agents and local law enforcement and concluded on August 26. The discovery marks the first major development in the nationwide manhunt since early summer.<\/p>\n

Decker, an Army veteran with extensive survival training, has managed to evade capture for three months.<\/p>\n

Sisters\u2019 Disappearance and Tragic Discovery<\/strong><\/p>\n

The case began June 2, when Decker failed to return his daughters \u2014 Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 \u2014 to their mother after a scheduled visitation. Their mother, Whitney Decker, reported them missing, sparking an urgent search.<\/p>\n

Days later, the girls\u2019 bodies were found near Rock Island Campground along Icicle Creek, not far from Leavenworth. Their wrists had been bound, and bags were placed over their heads. Autopsies determined the children died from suffocation, and their deaths were ruled homicides.<\/p>\n

The disturbing discovery shocked the community, and Decker quickly became the prime suspect in what authorities described as one of the most heartbreaking crimes in recent memory.<\/p>\n

Bones Found in Latest Search<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the most recent operation, investigators uncovered bones in the heavily wooded search area. While initial assessments could not confirm whether the remains are human, they were sent to Central Washington University\u2019s anthropology department for forensic testing.<\/p>\n

\u201cSearch personnel recovered several items that are being examined to determine if they are related to this investigation,\u201d the FBI told Fox 13. \u201cFinal results will take some time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison said that at this time, there is no conclusive information about whether Decker is alive or dead. He added that wildlife activity and exposure to the elements often scatter remains.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognize that the potential is it\u2019s not going to be a full skeleton,\u201d Morrison said. \u201cIf we were to find one, there\u2019s going to be bits and pieces, because wildlife does spread remains around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ongoing Manhunt<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Fox 13<\/em>, authorities have searched 247 acres in three major sweeps so far. Morrison said more campground and trail closures are likely as investigators expand their search.<\/p>\n

Another large-scale search, coordinated with federal partners, is planned for September.<\/p>\n

Decker, who once served in the Army and has extensive survival training, has remained elusive despite the enormous resources dedicated to finding him. Authorities believe he may still be hiding in the rugged wilderness of Washington state, though some fear he may have died.<\/p>\n
