After 32 years and 6,000 episodes, David Letterman has decided he will retire at the end of his contract with CBS in 2015.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Les) and I … we have had this conversation in the past, and we agreed that we would work together on this circumstance and the timing of this circumstance,\u201d Letterman said during a taping of Thursday night\u2019s show. \u201cAnd I phoned him just before the program, and I said, \u2018Leslie, it’s been great, you’ve been great, and the network has been great, but I’m retiring.’ “What this means now, is that Paul and I can be married,” Letterman joked.<\/p>\n

There is no set departure date for Letterman. Many celebrities took to Twitter after Letterman’s big announcement.<\/p>\n

President Obama tweeted: There are more than 10 reasons #DavidLetterman<\/b><\/a> will be missed.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel tweeted: David @Letterman<\/b><\/a> is the best there is and ever was.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bill Crystal tweeted: Just had great time with@letterman<\/a>. On Friday. No one like him.<\/em><\/p>\n
