Quivers was working from home despite undergoing chemo and radiation therapy. She broke her silence this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors found a tumor the size of a grapefruit that developed from endometrial tissue, which is found in the uterus. It took surgeons eight hours to remove the mass last year, she is now cancer-free.<\/p>\n<p>Baltimore-born Quivers worked as a nurse and was enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1975, eventually being promoted to Captain. She moved back to her home state to study broadcasting four years later. She became co-anchor with Stern on his radio show in Washington, D.C. in 1981.<\/p>\n<p>Stern was concerned that his side-kick wouldn\u2019t make it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI gotta be honest, I thought she was a goner,\u201d Stern admitted. He said he would quit if Robin didn\u2019t survive.\u201cDoing a show without Robin is like cutting off my left arm. Or my right arm.
