Nyad clocked 53 hours to realize her 35-year dream to complete a 110-mile swim. She departed Havana waters Aug. 31 and returned to home shores after 1 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Sunburned, dehydrated, Nyad offered encouragement to fellow Baby Boomers.<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/idolchatter\/files\/2013\/09\/Diana-Nyad-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8725 alignleft\" style=\"width: 219px; height: 183px;\" alt=\"Diana Nyad swim\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/87\/2013\/09\/Diana-Nyad-1-300x180.jpg\" width=\"224\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nyad told supporters that \u201cyou\u2019re never too old to chase your dream,\u201d said the endurance swimmer, who immediately rushed to the ambulance for re-hydration. It was her fifth time taking on the challenge. She tried last year and in 2011 but failed due to severe weather, currents and combating jelly fish stings. Nyad\u2019s first quest was in 1975 after swimming the circumference of Manhattan Island in eight hours.
