Justin and Hailey Bieber reportedly gave former Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz and his family just 24 hours to move out of their New York apartment after his explosive 2020 cheating scandal made headlines.

The revelation comes from Lentz and his wife, Laura, in their new book, Overcoming Infidelity: 10 Conversations to Help You Heal the Hurt, which details the devastating fallout from his affair, including the collapse of his once-close friendship with the pop superstar.

According to Laura, the Biebers initially offered their apartment to the Lentz family while they searched for a new home in Brooklyn.

“When we told Justin and Hailey our plan was to take our time exploring where we might live next, they generously invited us to use their place as long as we needed it,” she wrote.

But that arrangement reportedly came to an abrupt end in November 2020, when Lentz was fired from Hillsong Church over what church leadership described as “moral failures” following revelations of his infidelity.

Laura, who said she had been unaware of her husband’s affair, recalled receiving an unexpected phone call as the scandal unfolded.

“It was somebody on Justin’s team calling to say that we needed to be out of his and Hailey’s apartment in the next 24 hours,” she wrote. “We hastily packed our things and loaded them into a rented U-Haul.”

Lentz, 47, described the sudden eviction as a “kick to the ribs” when he was “already down for the count.”

“I deserved to be kicked to the curb, but I felt Laura and the kids were just innocent bystanders suffering once again for my sins,” he admitted.

Looking back, Lentz acknowledged that his own actions had put his family in a difficult position and dragged the Biebers into a “publicity nightmare they never asked for.”

The scandal also effectively ended a friendship that had lasted more than a decade.

Lentz first connected with Bieber in 2008 and became one of the singer’s most influential spiritual mentors. He baptized Bieber and helped guide him through a period of personal struggles. In 2014, Bieber even lived with the Lentz family in New Jersey for a time.

In a 2017 interview with Us Weekly, Lentz spoke highly of Bieber’s Christian faith.

“I think Justin has a really deep, mature relationship with Jesus,” he said. “I don’t think my teaching or my preaching has made even remotely as big of an impact as his own desire and passion and love for Jesus.”

The Lentzes also revealed that many of their friends distanced themselves as the scandal unfolded. However, filmmaker Tyler Perry stepped in to help, offering the family a place to stay at his California mansion.

According to the couple, Perry was one of the few people who supported them during the crisis.

Carl and Laura, who share three children, have remained married and are now sharing their experience to help other couples navigate infidelity, forgiveness and rebuilding trust.

Justin and Hailey have never publicly addressed the reported eviction, and their representatives did not respond to media requests for comment.

For Lentz, the scandal cost him more than his position at Hillsong. It also shattered a friendship with one of the world’s biggest pop stars, whose Christian faith he had once helped nurture.
