What should have been a moment of celebration for the Detroit Lions turned into an emotional reminder that some things matter far more than football.

Following the Lions’ 19-15 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, head coach Dan Campbell gathered his players in the locker room for a prayer after linebacker Jack Campbell suffered a frightening neck injury that left him hospitalized.

The 26-year-old linebacker was injured during the fourth quarter at Ford Field after colliding with Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson. Campbell remained motionless on the turf as medical personnel rushed to his side.

The scene left several of his teammates visibly shaken, with some reportedly in tears as Campbell was placed on a backboard and carted off the field.

After the game, Dan Campbell made it clear that his player’s health was more important than the final score.

“So, here’s what I wanna do, man. We’re gonna take a knee,” the coach told his players. “Now, I wanna pray for Jack and let’s keep him in our thoughts and prayers, man.”

The coach also addressed the injury during his postgame press conference, asking fans to remember Campbell and his loved ones.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family,” he said. “He’s being taken care of. We don’t have any new information. We’ll keep you updated as this goes, but we’re thinking about him.”
