Hollywood producer Chuck Lorre, creator of The Big Bang Theory<\/em> and Two and a Half Men<\/em>, spoke about faith and spirituality, warning that societies that abandon God often replace religion with dangerous political ideologies.<\/p>\n

On The Joe Rogan Experience<\/em><\/a>, Lorre discussed why he believes spiritual beliefs are essential to personal fulfillment and societal stability.<\/p>\n

The conversation came as the television producer released his new book, Sitcom: A Memoir<\/em>, which reflects on his decades-long career in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

Despite his enormous success in entertainment, Lorre told Rogan that money, fame and material achievements cannot provide the deeper fulfillment people seek.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe real solution, you know, I\u2019m going to say it and then regret it, but the real solution is a spiritual solution,\u201d Lorre said. \u201cYou have to find something beyond this world.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Rogan asked why he might regret that statement, Lorre explained that he didn\u2019t want his comments linked to what he described as superficial \u201cnew age\u201d spirituality.<\/p>\n

Rogan agreed, saying spirituality is sometimes misused by people who do not genuinely live out their beliefs.<\/p>\n

He pointed to a Christian acquaintance who showed his faith through service, building homes for homeless people and helping individuals overcome addiction.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of the nicest people that I know,\u201d Rogan said of those who take their spiritual beliefs seriously.<\/p>\n

Lorre agreed, calling such individuals real examples of faith in action.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re real, and they\u2019re role models,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The conversation then turned to the role religion plays in shaping civilizations.<\/p>\n

Lorre suggested that religious belief gives people a shared understanding of the world and helps provide structure and meaning to society.<\/p>\n

He warned that when cultures abandon belief in God, they may look to political movements or powerful leaders to fill that spiritual void.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen civilizations or cultures that took God out of the picture, they replaced it with the Communist Party, with a fascist dictator,\u201d Lorre said.<\/p>\n

He argued that political movements can demand the same kind of loyalty people once directed toward religious beliefs.<\/p>\n

\u201cOrganize around me. Doesn\u2019t matter if I\u2019m right or not, organize around me,\u201d he said, describing the appeal of authoritarian leaders.<\/p>\n

Lorre compared religion to a tentpole holding together a society\u2019s shared understanding of reality. Removing that foundation, he suggested, can leave people feeling threatened and uncertain.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat tent pole moves, the tent comes down,\u201d he explained, saying that questioning someone\u2019s deepest beliefs can cause them to reconsider everything else they believe.<\/p>\n

Although Lorre spoke positively about religion, his personal spiritual journey has taken several different paths. Raised Jewish, he later became involved with Scientology before embracing Buddhism.<\/p>\n

His comments also come amid his continued willingness to speak openly about politics. Last month, Lorre drew criticism for attacking President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump during an awards ceremony in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Still, his latest remarks focused on what happens when individuals and societies lose their spiritual foundations.<\/p>\n

For Christian audiences, the discussion touches on a familiar biblical theme: the danger of placing trust in worldly power, wealth or human leaders rather than God.<\/p>\n

While Lorre did not endorse Christianity specifically, his comments highlighted his belief that humanity needs something greater than material success or political authority to find lasting meaning and direction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
