Turning Point USA is turning a “Saturday Night Live” joke into a sign of its growing influence in American culture. After becoming the punchline of a sketch, the conservative organization said it was taking the jab as a compliment rather than offense.

During the October 3 episode of “SNL,” hosted by actress Dakota Johnson, a sketch poked fun at the conservative group by comparing a man’s hairstyle to that of a “campus recruiter for Turning Point USA.”

Rather than criticizing the show, TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet instead embraced the joke.

“We saw the skit. We thought it was actually pretty funny and a testament to how the organization has permeated popular culture,” Kolvet told Fox News Digital.

He added a playful response of his own: “And, for the record, we thought his hair looked great.”

The sketch, titled “Mean Scary Girlfriend,” featured Johnson playing a brutally honest girlfriend who insults men rather than offering the encouragement and reassurance they typically expect from their partners.

“Has this ever happened to you? Your nice, supportive girlfriend won’t give you a straight answer, and you’re left wondering how she really feels?” the sketch’s narrator asks. “Well, not anymore. Introducing ‘Mean Scary Girlfriend.’”

The Turning Point USA reference was among several insults in the skit, which quickly gained traction online. The video attracted more than 2.1 million views on YouTube and another 1.1 million on X.

TPUSA was not the only conservative target during the episode.

The show’s cold open centered on Republican National Committee officials preparing campaign advertisements ahead of the November midterm elections, which they described as “bleak.”

The segment featured impersonations of several prominent Republican figures, including President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Sen. Mitch McConnell.

Actor Colin Jost also portrayed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, delivering a joke that referenced religion and the military.

“I’m putting God back in war, and it’s working,” Jost’s Hegseth character declared. “Our soldiers are praying a lot more than they used to. I’m always hearing them say, ‘Dear God, why?’”

The episode continued a long-running pattern of political satire aimed at Republican leaders.

According to an analysis by the conservative media watchdog NewsBusters, 91% of political jokes on “Weekend Update” targeted conservatives during the previous season. Trump reportedly accounted for more than 100 punchlines.

While “SNL” has frequently drawn criticism from conservatives over its political humor, TPUSA’s response suggests it sees an upside to becoming a target.

For a group focused on reaching young Americans through college campuses and cultural engagement, appearing in a nationally recognized comedy sketch may be more valuable than the insult itself.

And judging by Kolvet’s reaction, TPUSA is more than willing to laugh along.
