A former psychic who left the occult after becoming a Christian is warning parents about Disney’s upcoming animated movie “Hexed,” arguing that its kid-friendly portrayal of witchcraft should concern believers.<\/p>\n

Jenn Nizza, who has spoken openly about her past involvement in psychic practices and her conversion to Christianity, reacted to the first trailer for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Hexed” in an interview with CBN News<\/a>. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on November 25.<\/p>\n

Nizza called the movie “really disturbing,” saying she believes it presents witchcraft in an attractive and seemingly harmless way.<\/p>\n

“[It] makes me think of Satan masquerading as an angel of light \u2014 and that’s really disturbing,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Hexed” follows Billie, a teenage girl who struggles to fit in before discovering she has magical abilities. Her journey takes her into a world called Hexe, where she learns about spells, witchcraft and how to use her newfound supernatural powers.<\/p>\n

For Nizza, the concern isn’t simply that the movie contains fantasy or magic. She argues that Christians should recognize that Scripture explicitly warns against practices such as sorcery, divination, mediums and attempts to communicate with the dead.<\/p>\n

Deuteronomy 18:10-14 specifically commands God’s people not to practice fortune-telling, sorcery, witchcraft or spell-casting or to act as mediums or psychics. Nizza said those biblical warnings leave no room for Christians to divide occult practices into “good” and “bad” forms.<\/p>\n

“It’s so important to disregard the aesthetic, because it’s the same evil and it’s the same author of these practices: the devil,” Nizza said.<\/p>\n

She went even further, arguing that parents should not dismiss “Hexed” as harmless entertainment simply because it is animated and aimed at families.<\/p>\n

“This isn’t just a movie,” she said. “This is implanting and brainwashing the demonic agenda into your minds and into the minds of your children.”<\/p>\n

Nizza’s concerns are rooted in her own experience. She said she could relate to Billie’s search for identity, belonging and purpose because her own involvement in the occult began when she was around 12 or 13 years old.<\/p>\n

“Through that vulnerability \u2026 she’s offered this purpose, identity, and power through witchcraft,” Nizza said of the character. “That is exactly how it started for me when those demonic doors were opened.”<\/p>\n

At the time, Nizza said she did not believe she was doing anything evil. She thought her psychic readings were helping people by allowing them to receive messages from deceased loved ones and find healing, wisdom or peace.<\/p>\n

Her understanding changed after she became a Christian.<\/p>\n

Nizza now believes she was never communicating with the dead but instead interacting with demonic spirits that were “masquerading as grandmothers, husbands, wives, and children.”<\/p>\n

“I was completely demonically oppressed,” she said, recalling periods of depression and anxiety during her involvement with the occult.<\/p>\n

After coming to faith in Christ, Nizza said the Holy Spirit led her to Scripture, where she came to understand the Bible’s warnings against occult practices.<\/p>\n

Now, she is urging Christian parents to use discernment when deciding what entertainment enters their homes.<\/p>\n

“We ought to guard our eye gates, our ear gates,” Nizza said, “and we should be extremely discerning and, honestly, not glorify or celebrate anything that Jesus died on the cross for.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
