Conservative radio host Steve Deace is raising concerns about legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s new movie, Disclosure Day<\/em>, arguing that the highly anticipated film presents a troubling message about faith and Christianity.<\/p>\n

Speaking with CBN News, Deace described the movie as more than just a science-fiction story about aliens and government secrets. In his view, the film directly challenges core Christian beliefs and portrays faith as powerless in the face of a greater force.<\/p>\n

“This is a direct assault on Christianity,” Deace said while discussing scenes from the movie.<\/p>\n

According to Deace, one of the film’s central characters is a former nun who abandoned her faith. He noted that early in the story, she declares that she has “lost” her belief in God’s divinity. As the plot unfolds, the character appears to become overtaken by an alien technology or force that resembles demonic possession.<\/p>\n

Deace pointed to a particularly dramatic scene in which the woman clutches a crucifix and prays fervently while struggling against the influence controlling her. He said the crucifix ultimately proves ineffective, with the alien force overpowering her despite her prayers.<\/p>\n

“At one point, she claps it in both of her hands hard, to the point she stigmatized herself,” Deace explained. “But, in the end, the alien technology that possesses her is too powerful for the crucifix.”<\/p>\n

For Deace, the symbolism was impossible to miss.<\/p>\n

“If that’s not a statement, I don’t know what is,” he added.<\/p>\n

Beyond the film itself, Deace addressed a broader question that has increasingly entered public discussion: Would the discovery of extraterrestrial life create a crisis for Christianity?<\/p>\n

His answer was a firm no.<\/p>\n

Deace argued that Scripture already describes various forms of intelligent life created by God, including angels, cherubim, seraphim, and fallen angels. Because of that, he believes Christians should not panic over hypothetical discoveries but instead evaluate such claims through a biblical lens.<\/p>\n

“The Bible has already accounted for intelligent life created by God that wasn’t human beings,” he said.<\/p>\n

Rather than allowing news headlines or scientific theories to shape their worldview, Deace encouraged believers to begin with Scripture and interpret current events from that foundation.<\/p>\n

“When you make what the news is telling you accountable to the Word of God, you’ll find that navigating things like science and reason are way more compatible when you have the right North star,” he said.<\/p>\n

The debate follows Spielberg’s acknowledgment that widespread confirmation of alien life could deeply challenge many people’s assumptions. During a recent interview<\/a>, the director said such a revelation could cause people to wrestle with questions about God, creation, and humanity’s place in the universe.<\/p>\n
