David Foster may be one of the most successful music producers in the world, but his daughters say one of the greatest gifts he gave them had nothing to do with fame or fortune.<\/p>\n

During a recent interview\u00a0at the grand opening of their Favorite Daughter boutique in Nashville, sisters Erin and Sara Foster reflected on the life lessons they learned from their famous father. Rather than growing up expecting success to be handed to them, they said Foster taught them the value of hard work, self-reliance, and pursuing their own passions.<\/p>\n

“I would say that we were not raised thinking that there was some big pot of gold at the end of the rainbow,” Erin explained. “We were raised knowing: figure out what you love, figure out what you’re good at, and go do it to take care of yourself.”<\/p>\n

That mindset appears to have served them well. The sisters launched their fashion brand, Favorite Daughter, in 2020, and the company has continued to grow. Their newest milestone is the opening of a boutique in Nashville’s popular 12 South neighborhood.<\/p>\n

For Christians, Erin’s comments echo a biblical principle found throughout Scripture: the importance of diligence, stewardship, and taking responsibility for the gifts God has given us. Rather than relying on family connections or waiting for opportunities to appear, the sisters said they were encouraged to develop their talents and build something of their own.<\/p>\n

Sara said another lesson from her father centered on discipline and consistency, especially when it comes to creative work.<\/p>\n

“Well, he taught me that writing isn’t something that happens when you’re inspired in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm or a breakup,” she said. “It’s something you do on a Tuesday at 9 a.m. because you’re on a deadline. So you don’t wait to be inspired.”<\/p>\n

It’s advice that likely came from experience. David Foster has built a legendary career producing and writing music for some of the biggest names in the industry, and his daughters learned early that success often comes from showing up faithfully day after day.<\/p>\n

The proud father was also present for the store’s opening and spoke warmly about watching his daughters build successful careers of their own.<\/p>\n

“It’s so great,” Foster said. “Like most parents, what they want to say is, ‘One day my kids will be off the payroll.’ Well, my kids have been off the payroll for so long now, and they’re doing so amazing, and they don’t need me, and it’s just, it’s so much fun to watch as a parent, and I’m just so proud of them.”<\/p>\n

Although both sisters live in Los Angeles, they believe Nashville is the perfect place to expand their business. Sara described the city as a thriving hub filled with creativity and opportunity, while Erin noted that Nashville has become one of the most influential cultural centers in the country.<\/p>\n

When asked whether a move to Music City could be in their future, Erin didn’t rule it out.<\/p>\n

“Definitely now that we have a store here, we want to be able to spend time here,” she said.<\/p>\n

For the Foster sisters, success wasn’t about chasing a mythical pot of gold.
