Christian music star Brandon Lake brought thousands gathered at CMA Fest to a standstill Sunday morning after pausing his packed Cowboy Church concert to pray for a woman who collapsed in the crowd.<\/p>\n

The emotional moment unfolded during one of the festival’s most attended events at Nashville’s Chevy Riverfront Stage, where massive crowds gathered along the Cumberland River for a worship-filled service featuring performances and appearances from artists including CeCe Winans, Dan + Shay and surprise guest Lainey Wilson.<\/p>\n

According to The Tennessean<\/a>, organizers stopped admitting attendees by the time Lake took the stage because the riverfront area had already reached capacity. Thousands packed the hillside surrounding the venue as the Christian singer opened the service with a message centered on hope and faith.<\/p>\n

“This is good news this morning,” Lake told the crowd. “God’s not done yet.”<\/p>\n

But the atmosphere quickly shifted when a woman in the audience suffered a medical emergency and collapsed in the tightly packed crowd. As first responders began making their way through the attendees, Lake immediately stopped the concert.<\/p>\n

“Can we stop?” he said from the stage. “This is more important.”<\/p>\n

The crowd fell silent as emergency crews worked for nearly 10 minutes to reach the woman through the dense audience. Soft instrumental music played in the background while medics treated her. Witnesses later reported the woman was conscious when she was transported backstage on a medical cart with an IV attached.<\/p>\n

Rather than continuing the show, Lake led the audience in prayer.<\/p>\n

“In Jesus’ name, we ask right now that you would just minister to this person,” he prayed. “Revive them right now, give them strength.”<\/p>\n

The moment appeared to resonate deeply with many in attendance, transforming what had started as a concert into a visible display of compassion, worship and faith in the middle of one of country music’s biggest events.<\/p>\n

Jackie Patillo, president of the Gospel Music Association, said the growing connection between Christian faith and mainstream country music was evident throughout CMA Fest weekend.<\/p>\n

“Faith and culture are colliding in really beautiful ways right now, and CMA Fest is one of the best places to see just how deeply that’s reflected in country music,” Patillo said. “Brandon Lake’s Cowboy Church concert, along with Jamie MacDonald and Leanna Crawford performing throughout the week, is a perfect example.”<\/p>\n

After the medical emergency, the event continued with music, testimonies and moments of encouragement. Lake later welcomed Dan + Shay to the stage, where the duo reflected on the importance of their wives and performed the song “She Believes in Me.”<\/p>\n

“Speaking of, our brides are here,” Lake told the crowd. “Because the truth is, I don’t think we’d be the men that we are if it wasn’t for the women in our lives.”<\/p>\n

Later in the service, Wilson surprised the crowd with an unannounced appearance and shared how conversations about faith eventually led to a songwriting collaboration with Lake.<\/p>\n

Near the end of the gathering, Lake spoke directly to audience members who may have felt disconnected from the church or distant from God.<\/p>\n

“Grace is so much bigger than any sin or any mess you’ve gotten yourself in trouble with,” he told the audience. “Maybe somebody got dragged here by your grandma or something, who said, ‘We’re going to a country rock concert.’ Well, surprise, you came to church.”<\/p>\n

Following the event, Lake shared clips<\/a> from the morning on Instagram, writing, “I am SPEECHLESS!! Words don’t even do justice to what happened this morning. God is so good\u2026 Cowboy Church LET’S GO!!! Will remember this forever.”<\/p>\n

Christian artists continued making an impact throughout CMA Fest weekend. Country singer Jo Dee Messina also openly spoke about her faith during a June 5 appearance before welcoming Lauren Daigle to the stage for a worship performance of “Who Else.”<\/p>\n
