Hollywood icon Jimmy Stewart is being remembered in a powerful new way as anticipation builds for \u201cJimmy,\u201d an upcoming biopic exploring the legendary actor\u2019s military service, faith, and personal struggles behind the fame.<\/p>\n

The first trailer for the film was recently unveiled ahead of its nationwide theatrical release on Nov. 6. According to the filmmakers, the movie focuses on the untold story of Stewart\u2019s service during World War II \u2014 a chapter of his life many fans may not fully know.<\/p>\n

The celebration surrounding the trailer debut took place in Stewart\u2019s hometown of Indiana on May 20, which would have marked the actor\u2019s 118th birthday. Cast members, producers, and Stewart\u2019s family gathered at the Jimmy Stewart Museum to open a brand-new exhibit dedicated to the making of the film.<\/p>\n

Actor KJ Apa, best known for his role in the TV series \u201cRiverdale,\u201d portrays Stewart in the film. He joined director Aaron Burns and Stewart\u2019s daughter, Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, during the hometown event.<\/p>\n

\u201cJimmy Stewart was a hero,\u201d Apa said during the celebration. \u201cHis legacy of service to the United States, his global reach through his films, and his devotion to his family are unparalleled.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apa added that stepping into the role carries enormous responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to honor his legacy, service, and family through \u2018Jimmy\u2019 and share his story to remind audiences that heroes such as Jimmy did and still do exist,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The museum\u2019s new exhibit, \u201cThe Making of \u2018Jimmy,\u2019\u201d features props, costumes, and behind-the-scenes photos from the production, offering fans a closer look at the film and Stewart\u2019s remarkable legacy.<\/p>\n

While Stewart is best remembered for beloved classics like “It’s a Wonderful Life,” Burns said the actor\u2019s real-life story is just as inspiring as anything seen on screen.<\/p>\n

In a previous interview, Burns explained that Stewart grew up in a small-town Christian home with a father who served as a deacon in the Presbyterian church. As Stewart rose to fame in Hollywood, he eventually wrestled with deeper questions about purpose and identity.<\/p>\n

Despite becoming one of the biggest movie stars of his generation, Stewart reportedly wondered whether he was simply a \u201cfake movie star\u201d or someone capable of genuine heroism.<\/p>\n

As World War II intensified, Stewart made a life-changing decision to leave Hollywood behind and enlist in the Army Air Corps. Already an experienced pilot, he eventually became a squadron commander leading bombing missions over Europe.<\/p>\n

Burns said one of the most moving parts of Stewart\u2019s story involved a letter from his father before he deployed overseas. Tucked inside the letter was a copy of Psalm 91 \u2014 a passage reminding Stewart of God\u2019s protection and presence.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about the Lord\u2019s comfort and Lord being with you,\u201d Burns explained. Stewart carried the Scripture with him during every mission.<\/p>\n

Though Stewart returned home safely, the emotional toll of war stayed with him. Burns said the actor suffered deeply after witnessing the loss of many men under his command and struggled to find his footing again in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

That season of uncertainty eventually led Stewart back to the screen through a call from director Frank Capra, who offered him the role of George Bailey in \u201cIt\u2019s a Wonderful Life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film would go on to become one of America\u2019s most beloved movies \u2014 and a story many Christians continue to embrace for its message of hope, sacrifice, purpose, and the value of every human life.<\/p>\n

Burns said that is exactly why Stewart\u2019s story still matters today.<\/p>\n
