American Idol crowned a new champion Monday night, and for winner Hannah Harper, the moment was about far more than music.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old Missouri mother of three won the latest season of the hit singing competition after a journey that resonated deeply with viewers through her honesty about faith, motherhood, and mental health struggles. Harper defeated finalists Jordan McCullough and Keyla Richardson during the show’s emotional three-hour finale.<\/p>\n

Harper showcased both her country roots and her heart for worship throughout the evening. She performed her original song “Married Into This Town,” dueted with country singer Lee Ann Womack on “I Hope You Dance,” and revisited her viral audition song “String Cheese.”<\/p>\n

Judge Carrie Underwood became emotional after Harper’s performance, praising both her talent and authenticity.<\/p>\n

“You deserve to be here for your voice, for who you are as a person, for who you are as a mom, as a daughter, for your songwriting. I’m so proud,” Underwood told Harper during the finale.<\/p>\n

But the night’s most powerful moment came after host Ryan Seacrest announced Harper as the winner. Fighting back tears, Harper closed the season by singing “At The Cross (Love Ran Red)” by Chris Tomlin while fellow contestants and judges gathered around her onstage.<\/p>\n

“At the cross, at the cross\/ I surrender my life\/I’m in awe of you,” Harper sang emotionally as confetti fell around her.<\/p>\n

Hours after her victory, Harper took to Instagram<\/a> to thank supporters and point the spotlight back to her faith.<\/p>\n

“What a wild, beautiful journey this has been. And somehow we’re just getting started,” she wrote. “Thank you to every single person who believed in me, prayed over me, voted and helped carry this dream farther than I ever could’ve imagined.”<\/p>\n

“I’m beyond thankful for the doors the Lord has opened and for the opportunity to walk this path,” Harper added before quoting Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you.”<\/p>\n

Throughout the season, Harper openly discussed her Christian faith and how it has shaped her life and music. The singer, who attends First Baptist Church of Birch Tree, first captured national attention with “String Cheese,” a deeply personal song inspired by her battle with postpartum depression.<\/p>\n

During her audition, Harper shared that a difficult moment with her son led her to realize motherhood was “the biggest ministry” God had given her.<\/p>\n

Underwood later called the performance “the most relatable song” she had ever heard and praised Harper’s storytelling and vulnerability.<\/p>\n

Harper also used the national spotlight to speak openly about her relationship with Jesus.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been in ministry since I was 9 years old,” Harper said earlier this season. “Having a platform at this level and getting to still be this open about my relationship with the Lord is an incredible honor to me.”<\/p>\n

She also revealed that several contestants prayed together backstage during the competition.<\/p>\n

“The entire competition in itself is scary, and there’s a lot of spiritual warfare in LA,” Harper said. “So it’s been really nice to have somebody like-minded in that sense to be able to share these moments with me.”<\/p>\n

Now, after winning one of television’s biggest talent competitions, Harper says she hopes her story encourages others who may feel hopeless.<\/p>\n
