Singer Pink, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore-Hart, received the \u201cChampion of Change\u201d award at Planned Parenthood of New York\u2019s Spring Into Action Gala. The event also included actresses such as Amy Poehler, Meryl Streep, and Melissa McCarthy. Moore-Hart is known for giving out pamphlets supporting Planned Parenthood at her concerts.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Vogue,<\/em> Moore-Hart discussed her support for the organization. \u201cI was the teenager who would go to Planned Parenthood. It was the place in our town that\u00a0cared<\/em>. These people are warriors, especially with this onslaught\u2014this war\u2014against women in our current administration,\u201d she said<\/a>. Vogue <\/em>portrayed Moore-Hart as supportive of the abortion industry since \u201cday one\u201d of her career. She has gone so far as to tell pro-lifers to not listen to her music, something most have expressed their willingness to do.<\/p>\n

The event certainly presented the abortion industry as in the throes of some battle for better days. \u201cWe have to be \u2018springing into action\u2019 every season. Bodily autonomy is crucial\u2014especially in 2026,\u201d said transgender actor Tommy Dorfman. \u201cIt\u2019s essential to be supporting the work that Planned Parenthood does, beyond just helping birthing mothers and people interested in fertility treatments, but also with hormone replacement therapy, transitional care, and medical care in general.\u201d Moore-Hart encouraged supporters to \u201cKnock on doors, donate, educate yourself, and help to educate others,\u201d adding, \u201cIt\u2019s only human that we don\u2019t tend to care about things until we\u2019re directly affected by them\u2014and that\u2019s something that should be looked at and changed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pro-life organizations denounced the event. \u201cImagine throwing a glamorous gala\u2026 to celebrate abortion. Hollywood claps and Vogue cheers. Meanwhile, innocent lives are ended every day,\u201d wrote Students for Life of America<\/a>. \u201cYou can rebrand it. You can glam it up. Abortion still ends a human Life. Stop pretending it\u2019s healthcare.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pro-life groups are currently pushing for lawmakers to keep Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funding. The Charlotte Lozier Institute has calculated that the number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood have reached a record high. President Trump signed a prohibition on federal funding for abortions during last year\u2019s budget bill, but that prohibition is set to expire this July without action from the Senate. \u201cThe Senate should use reconciliation again and enact the strongest defunding measure possible under the law,” said Lila Rose<\/a>, founder of Live Action. “American taxpayers should never be forced to subsidize an industry that distributes cross sex hormones to vulnerable kids and kills millions of preborn American babies through abortion every year.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
