He admitted that the news was \u201cdisappointing\u201d but referred to his faith. \u201cGod has always directed me in these moments and while I\u2019m not sure what the next step will be for me\u2014whether it will be in football, in broadcasting, or getting more involved in church and community outreach \u2014I know God has plans for my life and I can\u2019t wait see them unfold,\u201d he said. He ended by quoting Romans 8:28, which states, \u201cGod works all things for His good for those who love the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The news of Dungy\u2019s impending departure had been speculated on before the news broke, with the network seeking a new look to its broadcasts. \u201cThe Dungy move is one of the first decisions in what is anticipated to be a new-look show. While it is the highest-rated Sunday pregame show, it has the benefit of being sandwiched between the late 4:25 p.m. window on CBS and Fox and its premiere game on Sunday night,\u201d The Athletic\u2019s Andrew Marchand speculated a month before the news broke. \u201cThe network may take the show fully on the road next season and slim down its cast, according to sources briefed on NBC\u2019s plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dungy is one of a dying breed of sportscasters. More and more younger faces, typically recently-retired players, are taking on the roles that had originally been reserved for seasoned coaches like Dungy. \u201cTony Dungy\u2019s exit from NBC Sports highlights a quiet shift in sports media: former NFL coaches are disappearing from TV,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FOS\/status\/2032524594570268900\">wrote Front Office Sports on X.<\/a> \u201cSeats that once went to seasoned, gray-haired coaches are now filled by younger, recently retired players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some speculated that Dungy\u2019s dismissal might have been \u201ckarma\u201d after his refusal to reveal if he had voted for Bill Belchick to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
