Country star Carrie Underwood isn’t backing down after facing boos from the audience during a recent episode of American Idol<\/em>, responding to the criticism with confidence \u2014 and a touch of humor.<\/p>\n

Underwood, who famously won the show’s fourth season and went on to become one of country music’s biggest stars, found herself on the receiving end of jeers during Hollywood Week after offering candid feedback to contestants. But the singer made it clear she isn’t afraid to speak honestly.<\/p>\n

“You guys are gonna boo me. You guys are gonna boo me. It’s coming, just bring it on,” Underwood told the crowd during Monday’s episode. “I love it. Your boos are feeding me.”<\/p>\n

The moment came as Underwood prepared to critique a performance by 22-year-old contestant Mor, who took a bold step by performing<\/a> an original song titled “How to Love You.” The singer chose to accompany himself on guitar rather than use the full band available on stage.<\/p>\n

While Underwood praised Mor’s talent, she suggested the decision might not have been the best strategic move for this stage of the competition.<\/p>\n

“In a room like this, for you to bring an original song with that incredible band sitting behind you twiddling their thumbs \u2026 I feel like it was just a missed opportunity,” she said, drawing boos from the audience.<\/p>\n

Still, Underwood balanced her critique<\/a> with encouragement, telling the contestant she admired his voice and appreciated the intimate storytelling style of the performance. Mor thanked her for the feedback and said he was glad he had the opportunity to perform the song for such a large audience.<\/p>\n

The exchange wasn’t the only moment that drew crowd reaction during the episode. Fellow judge Luke Bryan even stepped in at one point to remind the audience of Underwood’s credentials.<\/p>\n

“She only won this,” Bryan joked. “She knows.”<\/p>\n

After the episode aired, Underwood addressed the crowd’s reaction on social media with several laughing emojis and a simple message<\/a>: “Boo me. I don’t care.”<\/p>\n

She also reiterated her perspective on contestants performing original music during the competition’s early rounds.<\/p>\n

“Singing original music is SUCH a gamble at this stage in the competition,” Underwood wrote<\/a> on X. “Don’t. Waste. The. Band.”<\/p>\n

Despite the controversy, Mor ultimately advanced as judges narrowed the field<\/a> from 127 contestants to 30.<\/p>\n

Underwood has long been open about balancing her career with her personal faith and family life. The singer, who is married to former NHL player Mike Fisher, is also a mother of two and has previously spoken about turning to God during some of the most difficult moments of her life, including experiencing multiple miscarriages.<\/p>\n

“I’ve always wanted to be a good daughter to my parents but also to God and not complain,” Underwood once shared in an interview. “We are beyond blessed.”<\/p>\n
