For Frankie Muniz, life in Hollywood once felt like everything \u2014 fame, success, and endless opportunity. But today, the former Malcolm in the Middle star says stepping away from Los Angeles and moving to Arizona didn\u2019t just change his lifestyle \u2014 it saved his life.<\/p>\n

The 40-year-old actor recently opened up about how leaving Hollywood helped him slow down, reconnect with everyday joy, and rediscover what truly matters. After years in the spotlight as one of the highest-paid child actors in television, Muniz said the constant pace of Los Angeles left him feeling disconnected.<\/p>\n

\u201cI say moving to Arizona from Los Angeles saved my life in the sense that I just really started enjoying the little aspects of life,\u201d Muniz shared. \u201cI realized I left my house like just looking down all the time. And when I moved to Arizona, I started looking up.\u201d<\/p>\n

That shift in perspective made all the difference. Life in Arizona, he said, allowed him to enjoy the simple moments many people take for granted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, going to the store, like just doing things, was a lot easier,\u201d he explained. \u201cLos Angeles was just very hectic and busy, and everyone\u2019s kind of in Hollywood trying to be seen or whatever it may be, and just really wasn\u2019t my cup of tea.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Arizona, Muniz found a sense of peace and normalcy that had been missing for years. \u201cMoving to Arizona definitely allowed me to\u2026 it made me want to do more normal things,\u201d he said. \u201cI found myself in Los Angeles just staying at my house unless I had to go to work. I just didn\u2019t really want to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now living there with his wife, Paige, and their 4-year-old son, Mauz, Muniz says the change has been life-giving. \u201cIt was the little things that became, \u2018Oh wait, this is actually what life is. This is what life is supposed to be.\u2019 And I just grew to love it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Interestingly, his connection to Arizona may have started long before he ever lived there. Muniz shared a childhood story that stuck with him for decades.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is going to sound really creepy,\u201d he laughed, \u201cbut I\u2019m going to tell you the story I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever told publicly.\u201d<\/p>\n

While filming My Dog Skip as a child, he had his palm read in New Orleans. The reader told him he had once been \u201ca judge in the old Southwest defending the Native Americans.\u201d Years later, when Muniz finally visited Arizona, the feeling was immediate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe minute I came to Arizona for the first time, I felt like that\u2019s where I was meant to be,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Fatherhood has also reshaped how Muniz views his career. Holding his newborn son for the first time changed everything.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was looking at him, and I had this really weird thought of like, who is my son going to grow up thinking that his dad is?\u201d he said. \u201cEverything I\u2019d done was in my past.\u201d<\/p>\n

That realization pushed him back into professional racing \u2014 not for fame, but to model perseverance and dedication.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted him to see me working really, really hard for something that is not easy,\u201d Muniz shared. \u201cI want him to grow up and see what hard work and dedication can do for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Today, his son is his biggest fan. \u201cRight now he likes that daddy\u2019s a race car driver,\u201d Muniz said with a smile.<\/p>\n

As he prepares for a packed racing season \u2014 with 42 races ahead \u2014 Muniz says he\u2019s more fulfilled than ever.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had that last race in Phoenix, and I was like, there\u2019s no way that was it,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve got way too much unfinished business.\u201d<\/p>\n
