Jelly Roll is giving all the glory to God after receiving three Grammy Award nominations, calling this season of his life “all Jesus.” The 40-year-old singer, who has become one of the most inspiring comeback stories in music, shared his emotional reaction in a heartfelt Instagram video<\/a>, saying he believes his success has nothing to do with fame and everything to do with faith.<\/p>\n

“When I made it to my first Grammy, I thought it was the only time I’d ever be there,” he said. “Coming back three years later with more nominations than I’ve ever had, the gratitude is overwhelming.” His nominations include Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance\/Song for “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” his powerful collaboration with worship artist Brandon Lake, as well as Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken<\/em> and Best Country Duo\/Group Performance for “Amen.”<\/p>\n

Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, said he was humbled by the recognition \u2014 not for the fame, but for what it represents spiritually. “I don’t care what artists say. I don’t care what artists act like. I’m going to tell you the real truth. There’s not an artist in the world that didn’t grow up watching the Grammys when they were a kid and walk in their bedrooms afterwards and rehearse their speech,” he admitted with a laugh.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his faith journey, he said he sees God’s fingerprints all over this moment. “God will take something that’s either normal and make it extremely abnormal, or He will take something that’s already incredible and make it absolutely mesmerizing, and that’s the case here,” he shared. “Not only did God bring me back here in the best headspace, but He brought me here with the right kind of message. When I look at these nominations, all I see is God.”<\/p>\n

The artist emphasized that for him, “it’s not even about the album or the nomination \u2026 it’s about the name.” He added, “I see all my friends in this category, but then I just see standing there is this album called Beautifully Broken.<\/em> And man, if that doesn’t represent what’s happening in the world right now \u2014 that we can find beauty in what’s broken.”<\/p>\n

Jelly Roll’s nominated song, “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” has already made a major impact. Released in November 2024, the song debuted at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart for 20 weeks, and was certified Platinum by the RIAA. The collaboration also swept the Dove Awards earlier this year, taking home Song of the Year among its three wins.<\/p>\n

At the Dove Awards, Jelly Roll used his acceptance speech to point people to Christ. “I was thinking about Matthew, when he talks about belief, when he said, ‘When I was hungry, you fed me, when I was thirsty\u2026’ I’m standing here because people took time with me,” he said. “The world is hearing about Jesus like they never have before. Put faith on your feet and feet on your faith.”<\/p>\n

For Brandon Lake, the collaboration represents more than a hit record \u2014 it’s a movement. “There is strength and hope that can be found in the midst of the hell that you are walking through,” he said. “You pair that with an awesome sound, and it’s like, who’s not going to love that?”<\/p>\n
