After 30 years, the popular \u201cSkit Guys\u201d Christian comedy ministry is no more. The announcement was shared on skitguys.com<\/a>, through a message from co-founder, Tommy Woodard. The message highlighted that the ministry, started by Woodard and Eddie James, would be transitioning to the 231 Collective, which will, according to the site, \u201ccultivate stories that transform and flood the world with art that disrupts, heals, and points people to the Truth.\u201d The site will also change to 231Worship.com.<\/p>\n

The \u201cprimary catalyst\u201d of the chance was because \u201cEddie James, cofounder of Skit Guys, had to resign from our ministry based on choices he made.\u201d According to the statement, the choices were \u201cnot in line with our ministry, our calling, or God\u2019s Word.\u201d The statement declined to give specific details but shared that \u201cEddie had to step away from our ministry after he revealed choices he had made leading to a violation of our ministry\u2019s standards and God\u2019s requirements for marriage and ministry.\u201d While admitting a moral failure on Eddie James\u2019s part, the statement reiterated support for him and his family and asked that their privacy be respected.<\/p>\n

Regarding whether the change had impacted James\u2019s and Woodard\u2019s friendship, the statement admitted that the situation had taken \u201can immeasurable toll on a lifelong friendship\u201d and that \u201cBoth of them are processing this on their own terms and in their own ways, working their way along the path toward healing and forgiveness.\u201d Woodard and James have been friends since high school. The statement also said that James\u2019s family was \u201churting.\u201d<\/p>\n

While admitting that James had experienced a moral failure, the ministry stated that videos from Skit Guys would remain available. \u201cWe know this news may stir sorrow, confusion, disappointment, or even doubt. We\u2019ve felt those feelings too; you\u2019re not alone in what you\u2019re feeling,\u201d the statement added. \u201cWe encourage you to bring those feelings to God in prayer and to reach out for support within your local church community.\u201d It is the first public notice of James\u2019s departure, though he did not appear at a Celebrate Recovery event July 30- August 1 at Saddleback Church in California.
