Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has a lot to celebrate this week\u2014both on and off the field. The Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver, who caught two touchdowns in Sunday’s win over the Detroit Lions, revealed afterward that his milestone performance came just days after a personal spiritual milestone: he was baptized.<\/p>\n

Brown’s two-touchdown game was his first since October 2021, back when he played for the Baltimore Ravens. But when he was asked about his success on Sunday, his focus wasn’t on his stats\u2014it was on his faith.<\/p>\n

“All glory to God. I just got baptized Friday, so this whole weekend’s been amazing for me,” Brown told reporters after the game.<\/p>\n

He also shared a video<\/a> of the baptism on his TikTok account, captioning it: “Living For Jesus. Serving Others.”<\/em> In the video, the Chiefs’ team chaplain, Marcellus Casey, can be seen baptizing Brown, while Casey’s wife baptizes Brown’s fianc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Though Brown had been baptized as a child, he explained that this time felt different. “I got baptized when I was younger, but I feel like last year, I had a lot on me mentally,” he said. “It all boils down to ‘don’t worry about the extra stuff.’ I found myself second-guessing a lot of stuff, and as a believer, that’s not what I should do. So to get baptized with my fianc\u00e9e, it felt good.”<\/p>\n

Brown added, “Letting God know that I’m a follower of Him, all of this is a blessing, that’s from Him, and I don’t take it for granted.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Brown quickly became an important target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, especially early in the season when the team dealt with injuries and suspensions. With the Chiefs’ receiving corps now getting back to full strength, Brown’s reliability on the field\u2014and his renewed focus on Christ\u2014may prove to be a steadying force for the team.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Brown wasn’t the only NFL player to publicly declare his faith through baptism in recent weeks. Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter was baptized<\/a> just hours before his game against the Seattle Seahawks. “It’s Sunday. It’s God’s day. I’ve been planning to go get baptized for a minute. I changed my life over to become a better man,” Hunter told ESPN. “It means a lot. I’m becoming a better man and leaving my old self and starting a new chapter.”<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Detroit Lions defensive back Terrion Arnold also took the step of baptism, showing that faith continues to be a growing influence among athletes at the highest level of the game.<\/p>\n

For Brown, baptism is more than a single moment\u2014it’s a renewed commitment to live out his faith daily, both on and off the field. His story reminds us that no matter the stage of life\u2014or the size of the platform\u2014there is always room to recommit to Christ and begin again.<\/p>\n
