College football can ignite passion in the stands \u2014 but at the University of Pittsburgh, it’s also sparking spiritual revival.<\/p>\n

On September 18, Pitt football players helped lead a powerful faith event on campus called “Pitt for Jesus.”<\/em> Nearly 600 students and community members gathered to hear the gospel, worship, and witness life-changing decisions for Christ.<\/p>\n

Tight end Jake Overman and Pastor Jason Howard, who organized the event, shared their excitement and gratitude during an interview with Fox & Friends<\/em>.<\/p>\n

“I just think that as athletes, we have such a platform,” Overman said. “We said at the beginning of the event that as athletes, we don’t want this platform to build up our name. We want to build up the name [of] Jesus.”<\/p>\n

And that’s exactly what they did. By the end of the evening, 65 individuals made commitments to Christ, 80 people were baptized, and 45 football players publicly declared their faith in Jesus.<\/p>\n

Pastor Howard said the event grew out of a desire to see young people discover real meaning \u2014 not in fame, status, or success, but in a personal relationship with God.<\/p>\n

“There is\u2026 a hole inside everyone that only God can fill,” he explained. “You look for fulfillment in a lot of other places, but it really just doesn’t meet the bill \u2014 it doesn’t satisfy.”<\/p>\n

For Overman and his teammates, the message is simple: their identity isn’t defined by touchdowns or trophies, but by faith.<\/p>\n

“There are many guys on the team who are following Jesus,” Overman said. “It’s such an example for the other kids on our team that, hey, follow us as we follow Jesus. There’s more to your story than just being a football player. It’s actually about being a son and a daughter of Jesus.”<\/p>\n

The Pitt for Jesus<\/em> event quickly went viral on social media, with videos of players praying, worshiping, and celebrating baptisms spreading across campus \u2014 and across the nation.<\/p>\n

Howard believes what’s happening at Pitt reflects a larger hunger among young people for faith and purpose.<\/p>\n

“Students want revival \u2014 they want to see change,” he said. “They want change in their lives, they want to see change in the world around them. And they know that only comes from being anchored to Jesus.”<\/p>\n

Some faith leaders have noted that spiritual interest among students has been rising in recent months, especially following the tragic assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who had been outspoken about his Christian beliefs.<\/p>\n

Howard says the movement is only beginning.<\/p>\n

“People are hungry for God,” he said. “They want to see God transform the world. And I think they are on the front line saying, ‘Come on \u2014 God has hope for people.'”<\/p>\n

At a time when college campuses often wrestle with division, anxiety, and identity struggles, Pitt for Jesus<\/em> offered something different \u2014 a reminder that true unity and hope are found in Christ.<\/p>\n
