Tributes continue to pour in for slain Christian conservative Charlie Kirk, with the \u201cDukes of Hazzard\u2019s\u201d John Schneider memorializing Kirk in his song, \u201cCharlie\u2019s Words<\/a>.\u201d Schneider described it as an anthem to Kirk, pledging to donate all proceeds from the song to Kirk\u2019s Turning Point USA. Schneider said he was inspired to write the song after people began celebrating Kirk\u2019s assassination on September 10. \u201c”What first moved me was the ignorance of the people who don’t seem to understand or did not seem to understand that this man was giving voice to people. A lot people get it, a lot of people love him, but I’m just amazed at the anger and the hatred I’m seeing out there,” he told Fox News<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI knew about Charlie, absolutely, my God, what an outspoken, amazing guy that I’d like to say, he went up there and said, \u2018Change my mind. You know, if you’re going to bring something other than a participation award to this debate.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The song focuses on Kirk\u2019s attempts to open up dialogue between differing viewpoints, saying, \u201cCharlie’s words broke through the barricades \/ Charlie’s words cut through the dark \/ Charlie’s words gave silenced people a purpose and a spark \/ He spoke of me, he spoke of you \/ He spoke of them and us and we.\u201d Schneider also included words from Kirk\u2019s widow, Erika Kirk, including the phrase \u201cThey have no idea what they’ve done.\u201d \u201cThey have called into action legions of otherwise sleeping people of faith,\u201d said Schneider. \u201cAnd this doesn’t mean they’re going to go out and get sticks and rocks. They are going to go and bring their A game to debate. They will bring their A game to church. They’re going to bring their A game to local politics. They’re going to bring their A game everywhere.”<\/p>\n

He called Kirk\u2019s untimely death \u201ctragic\u201d and that he wants the song to serve as a \u201cbattle cry.\u201d \u201cI think we’ve already been called to action. I think this song is certainly a tribute to a wonderful guy. It’s a song for those who’ve already been called to action. So now it’s kind of a battle cry,\u201d he said. He also called on Christians to take a stand. \u201cWe have to get off the fence. We can just sit on the fence anymore and watch Charlie fight our battles.
