Katy Perry paused her concert in Detroit this week for a surprising reason\u2014she wasn’t changing costumes or fixing a technical glitch. Instead, she stopped to pray.<\/p>\n

The pop icon was in the middle of her performance when a young fan named McKenna, who had just been invited on stage, suddenly collapsed. Perry had handpicked several fans from the crowd to join her, passing out instruments and offering encouragement when she noticed McKenna was visibly emotional.<\/p>\n

“Let’s practice. You got this, and let’s breathe,” Perry told the group. But moments later, McKenna fainted from what appeared to be the overwhelming excitement of the moment.<\/p>\n

“She got invited on stage and passed out from excitement and being overwhelmed,” said the fan who captured the video and shared it with Storyful.<\/p>\n

The singer and her team quickly jumped into action, escorting McKenna off the stage to receive help. Perry, visibly shaken, then gathered the remaining children and led the crowd in a heartfelt prayer.<\/p>\n

“Dear God, we pray for McKenna that she will come back fully, brighter, and better than ever. Amen,” Perry said, according to Billboard<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Showing grace under pressure, Perry turned a frightening moment into a touching one. “It’s so much. Sometimes you’re so brave and you can get on stage, and it’s overwhelming. I understand that feeling,” she told the audience.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, McKenna later recovered and was able to rejoin the crowd. “She eventually ended up being OK and finished watching the concert, and Katy was very kind to her,” the concertgoer added.<\/p>\n

This isn’t the first time Perry has dealt with a fan-related incident on tour. During her Australian show earlier this year, a man stormed the stage during her performance of “Hot N Cold,” catching her by surprise and briefly grabbing her shoulder before dancing with the crowd. Security quickly intervened, and the man was arrested and charged.<\/p>\n
