Nicole Scherzinger, once best known as the powerhouse voice behind the pop group The Pussycat Dolls, is now a Tony Award-winning actress \u2014 and she’s giving all the credit to God.<\/p>\n

During Sunday’s 78th Annual Tony Awards, Scherzinger won the award<\/a> for Best Lead Actress in a Musical<\/em> for her role as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard<\/em>. Overcome with emotion, she made sure her first words on stage reflected the faith that had grounded her throughout her life.<\/p>\n

“I just have to thank God for carrying me every step of the way,” Scherzinger said with tears in her eyes. “I give you all the glory.”<\/p>\n

She went on to thank her mother, who had her at 18 and “gave everything up” to support her, and her grandparents, who she said “instilled in me an unshakable faith.” Scherzinger ended her speech with a heartfelt “God bless you.”<\/p>\n

It was a powerful moment of praise from an artist who has never been shy about her Christian faith\u2014even in an industry that often sidelines it.<\/p>\n

Scherzinger, 45, has long spoken openly about her spiritual roots. In a 2013 interview with The Independent<\/em>, she revealed, “I come from the most religious family \u2014 my grandfather is a priest \u2014 and if they support me in all this, and they do, then I’m OK.”<\/p>\n

She also commented on the moral compromises often required in show business, saying, “To make it, you really have to sell your soul to the devil.” She made it clear she hadn’t\u2014and suggested that her steadfastness in faith may have slowed her rise to elite recognition. At the time, she had not yet achieved what she called the “EGOT” dream: winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, or Tony. Sunday’s win brings her one step closer.<\/p>\n

Scherzinger has also used her platform to stand for life. In 2016, she nearly turned down a role in ABC’s remake of Dirty Dancing<\/em> because her character had an abortion. “My family’s really hardcore against abortion,” she told The Daily Mail<\/em>, referring to her grandfather\u2014a bishop\u2014and the influence of her upbringing.<\/p>\n

But after much prayer, her grandfather encouraged her to accept the role and use it to shed light on the topic with compassion and conviction. “Hopefully, they can learn from [her character’s] ways, and I can be a positive influence,” Scherzinger said at the time.<\/p>\n

She also spoke candidly about her mother’s courageous decision to choose life. When pregnant with Nicole at 17, her mother faced pressure and uncertainty but ultimately chose to carry the pregnancy to term. “I just want to encourage everybody to keep your babies,” Scherzinger said in solidarity with the pro-life cause.<\/p>\n

Despite the glamour of red carpets and global fame, Scherzinger has remained spiritually rooted. In a 2019 interview with The Guardian<\/em>, she revealed that she regularly attends church twice a week\u2014either in person or online. “I was very conservative. I had really strong religious beliefs. I just wanted to make my mother proud,” she said.<\/p>\n

Sunday night, she made her entire faith-filled family proud by offering a testimony of gratitude and glory to God in one of the theater world’s biggest moments.<\/p>\n
