Chris Evans might be known as Captain America on screen, but in real life, he\u2019s just a son who didn\u2019t want to miss his mom\u2019s big day.<\/p>\n

The 43-year-old actor recently skipped one of the biggest film events in the world\u2014the Cannes Film Festival\u2014to celebrate his mother\u2019s 70th birthday. His decision is earning praise from fans who admire his commitment to family over fame.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish I could\u2019ve been with my incredible cast and filmmakers at Cannes, but it was my mother\u2019s 70th birthday and there are just some things you can\u2019t miss,\u201d Evans shared on his Instagram story. Along with the message, he posted a photo of the cast of his new film “Honey Don\u2019t!,” which includes stars Margaret Qualley and Aubrey Plaza.<\/p>\n

While many celebrities often prioritize red carpets and press events, Evans has always made it clear that his family comes first.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my own life, I have a deep connection with my family and the value of those bonds,\u201d he said in a past interview with Esquire. \u201cI\u2019ve always loved stories about people who put their families before themselves. It\u2019s such a noble endeavor. You can\u2019t choose your family, as opposed to friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor, who is one of four siblings, often talks about how important staying grounded is to him. After wrapping up his time as Captain America in “Avengers: Endgame,” Evans made a big change: he moved out of Los Angeles and back to his home in New England.<\/p>\n

He explained the move in a 2023 interview with GQ Magazine<\/em>, saying it helped him get back to a more peaceful place mentally. It \u201ctakes me back to a place when life was not just simpler\u2014that\u2019s too reductive\u2014but to a time where I was more pure, I guess; where my ego and my insecurities weren\u2019t such a dominant force that I had to push against,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Evans has also opened up about his struggles with anxiety, especially early in his career. Surprisingly, he almost turned down the role of Captain America because of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember in my late 20s having a real shift in how I felt on set, how I felt promoting films: a little more anxiety, a little more uncertainty,\u201d he said. \u201cYou always end up questioning, \u2018Is this what I should be doing?\u2019 I just wasn\u2019t sure if I was moving closer to myself or further away.\u201d<\/p>\n

His honesty is refreshing\u2014and so is his choice to be there for his mom instead of chasing more Hollywood glory.<\/p>\n
