A new Trump-themed burger chain is becoming quite popular in Texas and that\u2019s making some critics scratch their heads. Lebanese immigrant Roland Beainy started the “Trump Burger\u201d chain with several locations throughout Texas. The restaurants are stocked with jokes against the president\u2019s rivals, filled with merchandise, and covered with odes to the 45th<\/sup> and 47th<\/sup> president. For example, The Independent<\/em><\/a> describes the Trump Tower Burger, which has \u201c[1lb] of Aberdeen Angus beef patties, grilled onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, lettuce, two slices of white American cheese, onion rings and \u2018homage\u2019 barbecue and sriracha sauce.\u201d The menu also jokes of a Biden Burger (or the Harris Burger depending on the location), which is made up of 1oz of cheese, an old tomato, and \u201cour oldest buns.\u201d The fake burger is priced at $50.99 but is not available because of \u201ccheating and inflation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Houston Chronicle\u2019s<\/em><\/a> restaurant critic, Bao Ong, described his own experience in the Houston branch. \u201cI\u2019m waiting for my order at Trump Burger in Houston surrounded by merchandise including baseball caps emblazoned with ‘Trump 2024 The Revenge Tour’ and red T-shirts featuring a favorite line from the 47th President of the United States, \u2018You\u2019re fake news!\u2019\u201d he wrote. When asked by another patron who he voted for in 2016, Ong replied, \u201cI can barely remember. That was a long time ago.\u201d His review called the restaurant \u201cconsistent in its blandness,\u201d although he did praise the First Lady Chicken Sandwich and milkshake.<\/p>\n

Brittany Britto Garley of\u00a0Eater Houston<\/em><\/a>, noted that the Houston branch was \u201cwas met with middle fingers from passing drivers\u201d in the predominantly Democrat city. Garley said the \u201cburger patties are thick but bland, topped with a waxy cheese.\u201d The \u201cvibe\u201d was also uncomfortable for Garley, who noted she is a woman of color. \u201cIf you are someone who voted for Trump and supports his administration\u2019s many compromising decisions, this place is likely for you,” she wrote. \u201cHowever, for those who see Trump\u2019s legacy differently \u2014 as a man who has deported innocent people; stoked division; subverted the Constitution; and acted against values that include equality, access, and opportunity \u2014 eating here feels like an endorsement of someone whose vitriolic rhetoric has harmed, in many cases irreparably, the people he was elected to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Trump Burger pushed back at the negative reviews, calling them \u201cfake news.\u201d \u201cThe Houston Chronicle<\/em> maintains a predominantly liberal stance, so we expected nothing less than a biased take on anything bearing the Trump name,\u201d said the official.
