\"\"<\/a>American Idol<\/em> will be joining Easter Celebrations this April 20th<\/sup> with a star-studded night of worship. All 20 contestants on the show will participate in the show\u2019s \u201cSongs of Faith\u201d special and perform worship and gospel songs. CeCe Winans and Brandon Lake will make appearances during the show, as well as the Gospel quartet The Brown Four, Jelly Roll, and former \u201cIdol\u201d Roman Collins. The show\u2019s judges, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood, will also be performing faith songs. It is the first time the show has had an Easter special.<\/p>\n

Lake and Jelly Roll will perform their collaboration “Hard Fought Hallelujah.\u201d Jelly Roll is the newest artist in residence for the show. Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, has opened up about his faith and the ways he has tried to make amends for a former life of drugs and arrests. \u201cThis is so hard to talk about, because I’ve been called a \u2018lukewarm\u2019, a \u2018fence-rider\u2019, I’ve been called a \u2018cussing Christian\u2019. You know, I’ve had all these people…and I know that God’s got a lot more to do with me,\u201d he said<\/a> in a conversation about his collaboration with Lake. \u201cI know that. I know I got a long way to go, and I know that my heart was only to share the faith that changed my life\u2026 I might wear it a little different than other people, I might say things that other Christians don’t think are right to say, but ultimately, I have a heart for God and I have a heart for Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n

This season has had a number of professing Christians sharing their faith through song. Carrie Underwood was brought to tears<\/a> by a recent rendition of Lake\u2019s song \u201cGratitude\u201d by contestants Breanna Nix and Rylie O\u2019Neill. It prompted Underwood to address being openly Christian in the entertainment industry. \u201cI wanna tell you, I know how difficult it is to come into the entertainment industry and bring your faith with you.
