The long-awaited sequel to The Goonies<\/em> is finally in the works, exciting fans of the beloved 1985 adventure film. However, actor Robert Davi, who played the memorable villain Jake Fratelli, is uncertain whether he’ll get the call to return\u2014and he believes his outspoken conservative views may be the reason why.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital<\/em>, Davi addressed the buzz surrounding Goonies 2<\/em> and admitted he’s unsure if he’ll be invited back.<\/p>\n

“We shall see,” he said. “We shall see if they revive Jake Fratelli or the Fratelli brothers in some way. I hope. I would love to be part of it because it’s such an iconic film that people all over the world still reach out to me on Goonies<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

Davi, a rare and vocal conservative in Hollywood, worries that his political beliefs could work against him.<\/p>\n

“I hope that they don’t hold my politics against me and keep me from that project,” he shared.<\/p>\n

His concerns aren’t unfounded, as he claims to have been passed over for other roles due to his conservative stance.<\/p>\n

“I’m concerned about it, yes,” Davi admitted. “Because it’s happened on other issues, other projects. And it’s just, you know, I believe in free speech and not being politically correct all the time.”<\/p>\n

The original Goonies<\/em>, produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Richard Donner, became a cultural phenomenon. The film follows a group of kids who embark on a treasure hunt to save their neighborhood, encountering booby traps, pirates, and, of course, the villainous Fratelli family along the way.<\/p>\n

Davi’s character, Jake Fratelli, stood out with his opera singing and comedic menace. Even decades later, fans still approach him to express their love for the film.<\/p>\n

“The funny part about it is Dick Donner, the director, originally said when we did the film, he told me, ‘This is going to be like the modern-day Wizard of Oz<\/em>,'” Davi recalled. “And it’s become that for many, many people.”<\/p>\n

While Goonies 2<\/em> is still in the early stages, with Spielberg producing and Old Henry<\/em> filmmaker Potsy Ponciroli writing the script, no official casting announcements have been made.<\/p>\n

Davi has never shied away from supporting former President Donald Trump, publicly backing him since Trump’s campaign launch in 2015. His bold political stance has set him apart in an industry known for its liberal leanings.<\/p>\n

Most recently, he applauded Trump’s appointment of Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone as “Special Ambassadors to Hollywood,” aiming to revitalize the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

Davi welcomed the idea, saying, “I think it’s a terrific thing to have a committee\u2026 to bring back business, too, because we’re losing so much business in Hollywood, which is true.”<\/p>\n

For now, Goonies<\/em> fans\u2014and Davi himself\u2014are left waiting to see if Jake Fratelli will return to the big screen.<\/p>\n
