During a pre-show interview, the young singer shared how &#8220;God Only Knows&#8221; had helped him face challenges in school. &#8220;This song talks about how if you&#8217;re in a hard time or if you&#8217;re struggling with something, that God can meet you where you&#8217;re at,&#8221; Fortson shared. &#8220;This year, I went into ninth grade, and sometimes the work can get overwhelming. Reflecting on his decision, Bubl\u00e9 shared, &#8220;I stole Jaukeem because when I was a kid, people saw the potential in me and gave me a shot. I love that I could do that with Jaukeem.&#8221; This gesture of mentorship and encouragement underscores the supportive spirit that has become a cornerstone of <em>The Voice<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Snoop Dogg, known for his unique presence and perspective, was also deeply affected, lifting his hands in a moment of reflection as Fortson sang. &#8220;We need to see more Black kids like this,&#8221; Snoop commented afterward. &#8220;In the beginning, I was representing the wrong side of what we look like. I want to commend your parents, your grandparents, and everyone who raised you right. This is what a young Black kid looks like.&#8221; His words underscored how Fortson&#8217;s performance broke barriers, offering a message of hope and integrity.<\/p>\n<p>The night wasn&#8217;t without emotion for Fortson&#8217;s former coach, Reba McEntire, who teared up during his warmup. &#8220;When you see that beautiful smile of his, then he steps up to the mic and blows your socks off\u2014my gosh, who doesn&#8217;t love this kid?&#8221; McEntire said. Jennifer Hudson, acting as a mentor to McEntire&#8217;s team, also praised Fortson&#8217;s natural gift, saying, &#8220;Jaukeem is singing from experience. If he makes the audience feel what he&#8217;s feeling, the way he made us feel, he is well on his way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fortson&#8217;s performance even drew attention from <em>For King and Country<\/em>, the Christian music duo who originally released the song.
