Mid-shopping, take time out to review the culture\u2019s excesses with the expert on the topic, John Waters, the auteur of such films as \u201cHairspray\u201d and other underground film comedies. \u201cI love how it makes people mental,\u201d Waters tells San Diego City Beat in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sdcitybeat.com\/article.php?id=3857\" target=\"_new\">interview<\/a> this week, later admitting, \u201cIf I hear \u2018Little Drummer Boy\u2019 one more time, I feel like I\u201am going crazy.\u201d Waters is out flacking his antidote to the Christmas crazies, his 2004 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/B00065GHWE\/qid=1134668074\/sr=8-2\/ref=pd_bbs_2\/103-1144313-2121405?v=glance&amp;s=music&amp;n=507846\" target=\"_New\">album<\/a> of kitschy carols, including \u201cHere Comes Fatty Claus\u201d and Tiny Tim\u2019s version of \u201cRudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer.\u201d In the interview, Waters muses, &#8220;There&#8217;s no irony in those songs [like] &#8220;Happy Birthday Jesus&#8221; by Little Cindy.
