According to a recent study conducted by Breezit, an online tool for finding wedding vendors, Whitney Houston’s pop ballad \u201cI Wanna Dance With Somebody\u201d is the most popular song played at weddings. Released in 1987 on Houston’s second studio album, \u201cWhitney,\u201d the song appeared 484 times across 2,000 wedding-themed Spotify playlists analyzed by the company, which contained a total of 49,091 songs.<\/p>\n

The playlists included categories such as Wedding dancefloor, Wedding party, Walking down the aisle, and First dance songs. Houston’s hit, which earned her the nickname \u201cThe Voice\u201d and won a Grammy in 1988, was featured on over 24 percent of these wedding-related playlists.<\/p>\n

In second place was ABBA’s 1976 international hit \u201cDancing Queen.\u201d The disco favorite, which has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, appeared 394 times and was included in just over 19 percent of playlists curated by couples for their weddings.<\/p>\n

Usher’s \u201cYeah!\u201d featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris took third place. The 2004 track, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 12 straight weeks, was found in slightly over 19 percent of the playlists.<\/p>\n

\u201cMusic plays an incredibly important role in wedding celebrations, and it\u2019s fascinating to see which songs are still hailed as wedding classics, even years after their initial release, Arturas Asakavicius,\u201d co-founder and CEO of Breezit told Brides<\/a><\/em>. \u201cWedding playlists can help create lasting memories,\u201d he added, \u201ccapturing both the joy of the dance floor and the romance of walking down the aisle.
