Next week, a new book in the Twilight Saga will be published. And no<\/em>, don’t get overly excited. It’s not as though Stephenie Meyer has written another installment or finally finished (and published) Midnight Sun or even turned out another little novel like she did with The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner<\/a>. Nope.<\/p>\n

On April 14th, we will see the publication of “The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide.”<\/a> In hardcover no less. And yes, by Stephenie Meyer<\/a> herself. You can even download a countdown to watch the seconds go by until the book’s release.<\/p>\n

Several questions arise for me upon learning of this new Twilight guide out from Meyer herself: Is it a graphic novel? (It doesn’t seem to be–or at least isn’t billed as such.) What in the world can an “illustrated guide” add at this point, given the movies, the graphic novels, and the gazillion other academic and not-so-academic guides and interpretations, etc. of the series? Is this Stephenie Meyer trying to make another buck? And really, why would she need to make another buck?\u00a0I guess I find it surprising that Meyer would go along with such a book when it so explicitly seems like it’s only to make more money and to take advantage of fans.<\/p>\n

Or maybe I’m just really, really tired of all-things Twilight?<\/p>\n
