Garrett Nussmeier is LSU\u2019s new starting quarterback and he\u2019s grateful for the opportunity. Most players decided to enter the transfer portal in hopes of getting more play time or getting a better experience after the NCAA season, but Nussmeier was happy where he was. He came to LSU as a four-star prospect out of high school and spent his third season shadowing Heisman Trophy Winner Jayden Daniels.<\/p>\n

Per\u00a0Sports Spectrum<\/a>, \u201cNussmeier, 22, will enter his fourth season with the Tigers this fall, having\u00a0only ever started last season\u2019s ReliaQuest Bowl<\/a>\u00a0victory against Wisconsin. He\u2019s played a fair amount otherwise\u00a0\u2014\u00a0appearing 18 games<\/a>\u00a0with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions\u00a0\u2014\u00a0but it\u2019s never been \u2018his team.\u2019 This fall, that\u2019s all set to change.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was making my decision out of high school of where to go to school, I felt like there was a lot of prayer involved, and God brought me to LSU for a reason,\u201d Nussmeier\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0in an interview. \u201cI did not feel like it was my time just to pack up and leave. I felt like it was my duty to just keep my head down, trust in His timing, and just work. I know God\u2019s timing is always right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nussmeier also\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0SEC Media Days, \u201cI\u2019ve been blessed with the opportunity to step into some pretty tough situations. I feel like they\u2019ve only made me better as a player. And now, getting the experience\u00a0\u2014\u00a0and the preparation as well\u00a0\u2014\u00a0as a starter, I think it\u2019ll only help even more. I\u2019ve been thrown into some tough situations, but it\u2019s only made me better, and I wouldn\u2019t trade it for the world.\u201d In addition to Nussmeier\u2019s growth on the field, he also took this last year to strengthen his relationship with the Lord.<\/p>\n
