Ohio State Buckeyes head football coach Jim Tressel reportedly knew of players selling memorabilia for money and other benefits eight months before they were suspended for infractions in December. It appears that the well-liked coach’s job could be in jeopardy, a press conference was called by athletic director Gene Smith Tuesday night at 7 p.m. ET.
\nTressel was currently promoting his new inspirational book “Life Promises for Success: Promises from God on achieving your best.” It’s a collection of readings from the Bible to encourage readers to reach their goals and full potential. Tressel, 58, also wrote “The Winners Manual” that uses faith and football as a pathway to success.
\nWriter Chad Bonham interviewed Tressel for the book, “Greatest Coach Ever” that talked about legendary coach John Wooden’s career that was released last summer. He also shared his philosophy with Bonham on being the best.
\n“When things aren’t going well, you can always start over at that moment and say, ‘Hey you know what? We’re going to be the best that we can be.”
\nTressel has enjoyed success with Ohio State leading them to a 12-1 record last season and posting a 106-22 overall record since 2001.
