There’s still a little time left for me to chime in on the discussion <\/a>as National Banned Book Week wraps up in a few days. And as I have -ahem- perhaps been recently involved in my own banned book battle lately, I have been given over to pondering what banned books I would like to see adapted – or adapted again- for the big screen.
\nHere are just a few favorite stories that have been banned somewhere at sometime that I think should be made into big screen epics.
\nWhat are some of the banned books you have enjoyed over the years but haven’t been made into a movie yet?
\nThe Last Book in the Universe<\/strong>: Though I don’t want to see the kids classic “The Giver” ever adapted to the screen, this book about a kid named Spaz and a gummie named Ryter is somewhat similar in theme and I think it would be a fun but thoughtful movie for the whole family.
\nAnimal Farm:<\/strong>: Now that movie technology is what it is, don’t you think there could be a cool, twisted, effects-laden adaptation of this that would work much better than previous attempts at adapting Orwellian society on the screen?
\nThe Chocolate War<\/strong>: Another middle school favorite, this book was made into a really bad movie, so I would like to see the story of a boy standing up for himself at a parochial school made into a new, improved version.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
