Lainey Wilson\u2019s 13-year run in the country music business has had its fair share of hardships. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Wilson, who\u2019s set to appear in the Hulu special \u201cLainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country,\u201d shared how she handled heartache and rejection early in her career. Wilson said, \u201cI think a lot of the rejection really just kind of made me want it that much more. I am hardheaded. I really am, and if you could sit down and talk to my parents, you would realize why I am the way that I am. Both of them, when they have their mind made up, that\u2019s it. And I\u2019ve had my mind made up from the very beginning that I was going to do this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nearly 13 years ago,\u00a0the \u201cYellowstone\u201d star\u00a0packed up her possessions and moved from the 200-person town in Baskin, Louisiana, and headed to Nashville to pursue her dream of being a country music star. In February, Wilson took home her first Grammy. Wilson told Fox News Digital, \u201cI didn\u2019t know what it was going to look like, but I truly do think that that rejection and the time that it has taken me to get to this point, because, I mean, this year it\u2019ll be 13 years that I\u2019ve been in Nashville doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cI think it\u2019s really just a part of my story. And I think the Lord kind of wanted me to live a little bit more life so I could have more stories to tell, so I could relate to more people. That\u2019s what it\u2019s about when you kind of zoom out and you think about all of this. It\u2019s important to remember and\u00a0<\/em>realize why are we doing this? And what are we doing this for? It\u2019s just because we all want to feel something. And, I think, because of that rejection, I think people can relate to some of my stories.\u201d In the trailer for her Hulu special, Wilson says, at times, she felt like a \u201cfish out of water\u201d and that she was \u201ctoo country for country.\u201d The award-winning musician told Fox News Digital she assumed as a child that everywhere she went, people would have a similar accent to her own.<\/p>\n
