The actor who plays Jesus in the hit series \u201cThe Chosen\u201d says he\u2019s remained humble by following Jesus\u2019 example and recognizing that \u201ceverything that I have is because of Him.\u201d Jonathan Roumie is one of the most recognizable actors in entertainment. He\u2019s played Jesus in a series with 200 million viewers worldwide and has been featured in several magazine articles and ads. People sometimes call him \u201cJesus\u201d when they see him on the street.<\/p>\n

When asked how he\u2019s remained humble, Roumie said he looks to Jesus and remembers his roots. Before he got the role of Jesus in \u201cThe Chosen,\u201d Roumie was an actor struggling to get jobs and nearly broke. The series\u2019 success continued to grow when season four of \u201cThe Chosen\u201d was nominated for a 2024 K-Love Fan Award in the category of Film Impact. Roumie answered, \u201cJesus is the ultimate. And if I\u2019m trying to model my life after Him, He was the supreme example of humility. You look at the cross.\u00a0There\u2019s no one that was\u00a0more humble than He was. And so I have to remember that everything that I have is because of Him — everything\u00a0that I\u00a0went through was to get to this point where I surrendered to Him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roumie continued, \u201cAnd as a result, He\u2019s taken me out of the pit and put me here with you guys and [director] Dallas [Jenkins] and [actress] Liz [Tabish] and an incredible place. I pinch myself every day. Words cannot\u00a0really\u00a0adequately describe how I feel, but all of it goes back to Him. And without Him, I am nothing.\u201d He said it is essential to stay \u201cconnected to your faith\u201d and be \u201cgrounded in your belief.\u201d Roumie said, smiling, \u201cI work for somebody like Dallas — he keeps me pretty humble.\u201d Jenkins, who created the show, said he and the actors often look back to the series\u2019 first year when it had yet to grow in popularity. Jenkins launched \u201cThe Chosen\u201d\u00a0following the box office failure of a film he directed,\u00a0\u201cThe\u00a0Resurrection\u00a0of Gavin Stone.\u201d<\/p>\n
