\"boratandislapicforic.jpg\"<\/a><\/span>The artist occasionally known as Borat, Ali G., or Bruno is now a married man – he married longtime fiancee Isla Fisher last Monday “in a traditional Jewish ceremony in Paris” (quoted in The Times Online<\/a>). Fisher and Baron Cohen have been engaged since 2005, and Fisher – also the mother of Baron Cohen’s daughter Olive (age 2) – converted to Judaism in 2007 after three years of study. She then took on the Hebrew name Ayala.<\/p>\n

“I would do anything – move into any religion – to be united in marriage with him,” Fisher said in one interview. “We have a future together and religion comes second to love as far as we are concerned.”
\nA busy schedule had precluded the actors’ marriage. “It’s been difficult to plan,” Fisher reportedly said last year. “It’s been very important to me to have a beautiful ritual celebrate with all my family and friends. And when you are in the public eye, to keep that private and to make it happen without it being really visible is really difficult.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kudos to the high-profile couple on focusing their wedding on a small group of relatives instead of succumbing to a public, paparazzi-filled event. Maybe it’s a good thing that Baron Cohen’s part in the Ben Stiller “Avatar” spoof segment (in which he would appear as a female Na’vi pregnant with James Cameron’s love child) was cancelled <\/a>because of “creative differences” – perhaps this cancellation freed up his schedule enough so those two crazy kids could make it official.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
