The Robertson family heard time and time again the line “don’t go to Hollywood,” when they decided to step into the world of reality television. However, Korie Robertson, wife to Willie and mother to Sadie and John Luke, recently revealed what bible verse helped them make the decision. While appearing on CBN’s “Faith vs. Culture,” the “Duck Dynasty” star shared that her family leaned on the Bible verse found in 2 Timothy 1:7. The New Testament passage reads, \u201cFor God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline\u201d (NLT). \u201c[God] says He will be with us wherever we go, so we just asked God\u2019s favor on us, His protection [to be] on us,\u201d she said. \u201cGod says to go into all the world. So whenever anybody asks me, \u2018Should I get into entertainment as a believer?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Yes, we need more people in entertainment. We need more light in that [industry].’\u201d<\/p>\n

Robertson realized just how much impact her family could have if they agreed to the show. \u201cWhenever we started \u2018Duck Dynasty,\u2019 it wasn\u2019t necessarily a faith show,\u201d said Robertson, noting there was no way to \u201cget around\u201d talking about their Christian beliefs, though, \u201cbecause it\u2019s who we are.\u201d She continued, \u201cThe hope is that people might see our story and see our testimony and say, \u2018Why is [your life] different? Why do you seem to have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness?\u2019 That\u2019s because we have the [Holy] Spirit living in us and we can tell [people] a little more about what Jesus has done for us. It\u2019s not because we\u2019re so great. It\u2019s because we have the Spirit of God living in us and we try to live our lives that way.\u201d The Robertson family left a huge impact on viewers, but their prayer at the end of each show is what left the biggest mark on viewers. \u201cPeople would come up to us with tears and say, \u2018My husband now goes to church because he saw real men who love Jesus,\u2019 and, \u2018Our kids will not let us eat before saying a prayer now, because of your show,’\u201d Robertson reflected. \u201cSo we just saw so powerfully how entertainment is shaping people and is changing people and how it can move people.’\u201d She continued, \u201cYou look back at Jesus and He told parables, He told stories because stories do move people and people relate in that way.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
