After the show ended, McGinley let life get in the way and lost touch with his castmates. \u201cI think mostly because I had young kids and a wife and I went on to work in New York, so I just kept going on. I don&#8217;t do social media, per se, so I&#8217;m not able to connect like people do. It&#8217;s not my thing. I just keep going forward,\u201d he said. That hasn\u2019t kept him from being on friendly terms with his castmates when he has run into them. \u201cFor example, if Ed O&#8217;Neill and I were to run into each other, had a coffee early in the morning, we would have an amazing time, or a beer late at night. It would be fun. Same with Amanda. I have run into Amanda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The show, controversial because of its raunchy content and irreverent characters, is a far cry from McGinley\u2019s latest work on \u201cThe Baxters.\u201d The show will be available on Amazon Prime and is being produced by Roma Downey. Based on the faith-based novels by popular Christian author Karen Kingsbury, the show follows the drama of the Baxter family, with Downey and McGinley playing the lead matriarch and patriarch. Although the project is very different from the raunchy \u201cMarried,\u201d McGinley said he enjoys the difference. \u201cIt&#8217;s funny,\u201d he said. \u201cI&#8217;ve been doing that for a long time where I&#8217;ve been doing more of a faith-based movie, and then I&#8217;ll go \u2014 like the show I&#8217;m doing right now is \u2018Shrinking.\u2019 They&#8217;re diametrically opposed in many ways. It&#8217;s part of the life of being an actor.\u201d He said he believes audiences are \u201creally hungry\u201d for \u201cgood content\u201d like \u201cThe Baxters.\u201d McGinley said he identifies with his character, John Baxter from the series. \u201cNo. 1: family first. He&#8217;s a very faithful man. It&#8217;s important that his family is also part of that world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>As for working with Downey, he called her \u201ca warm blanket.\u201d \u201cShe&#8217;s spectacular. We hit it off day one, and it just kept escalating,\u201d he said. He and his wife of 32 years, Gigi Rice, have developed a relationship with Downey and her husband off the set. \u201cMy wife and I have gone over to Mark and Roma&#8217;s house. We&#8217;re friends. We&#8217;re friends off the ice. They&#8217;re just wonderful people,\u201d he said. \u201cBut, Roma, when you work with her, it feels like this beautiful, comforting warmth that sort of nuzzles your neck. She&#8217;s wonderful. She&#8217;s always right there for you. She&#8217;s very generous.\u201d The first season of \u201cThe Baxters\u201d is available on Amazon Prime starting March 28.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ted McGinley, famous
