Pop star Olivia Rodrigo announced that her \u201cFund for Good,\u201d which is being labeled as a \u201ca global initiative committed to building an equitable and just future for all women, girls and people seeking reproductive health freedom,\u201d will use a portion of the proceeds from her Guts World Tour to fund local abortion providers. Her North American tour will support the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF), a conglomeration of 100 abortion funds that assists those seeking abortions with needs such as transportation, translation, and childcare. NNAF\u2019s executive director, Oriaku Njoku, praised<\/a> the 21-year-old pop star\u2019s move. \u201cSupporting abortion funds has never been more critical, in an era where abortion access is under relentless attack. We are excited to be in partnership with Olivia Rodrigo, as she’s uplifting the critical work of abortion funds, and leading (her fans) into the movement towards reproductive freedom!\u201d<\/p>\n

For her show in Houston, TX, which has banned abortion after six weeks of pregnancy, Rodrigo stated funds would be used for women traveling for abortions. \u201cA portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales at #GUTSworldtourHouston will go towards @abortionfunds @fundtexaschoice @janesdueprocess who help Texans traveling for abortions by covering & coordinating transportation, lodging & other practical support classes,\u201d she announced on her Instagram<\/a>. Kamyon Conner, the executive director of Texas Equal Access Fund, said the organization is \u201cexcited and grateful to Olivia Rodrigo for her support of abortion access through her GUTS tour, and we applaud her for using her platform and voice to shine a light on the critical work of abortion funds and bust abortion stigma.\u201d Rodrigo has been outspoken for her support of abortion rights since Roe v Wade was overturned, performing \u201cF— You\u201d with Lily Allen and dedicating the song to the five justices who voted to overturn Roe. \u201cThe song goes out to the justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. While generally receiving praise for the fund, The American Spectator<\/em><\/a> called Rodrigo a \u201cshill.\u201d \u201cShe\u2019s never really been a puppet for Disney, but Rodrigo\u2019s views of power and influence are a bit myopic if she considers herself a nonconformist.
