Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf recently formally converted to Catholicism. According to the Catholic News Agency, the 37-year-old officially joined the Catholic Church when he took the sacrament of confirmation at the Old Mission Santa In\u00e9s Parish in Solvang, California.<\/p>\n

The Capuchin Franciscans-Western American Province said\u00a0in a statement<\/a>\u00a0shared on their Facebook page, “His decision to fully enter the Church is a testament to his sincere desire to grow in his relationship with God and live out the Gospel values. As Capuchin Franciscans, we believe in the transformative power of faith and the incredible impact it can have on one’s life. We are humbled and grateful to walk alongside Shia as he takes this important step in his spiritual journey.”<\/p>\n

LaBeouf’s sponsor, Capuchin Friar Brother Alexander Rodriguez, told CNA the actor might eventually take his commitment to the Catholic Church further. He said the “Transformers” star wants to become a deacon “sometime in the future.” Rodriquez shared that LaBeouf’s interest in becoming a deacon originated during the filming of the 2022 movie “Padre Pio.” In the film, he portrayed the titular Italian Capuchin friar who went on to be venerated as a saint.<\/p>\n
