Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens, safety for the Green Bay Packers, recently appeared on an episode of the podcast “The Pivot” where they recounted the story of how they first met. It landed Owens in hot water after he admitted he didn’t know who Biles, who was recently named the most decorated gymnast of all time, was at first.<\/p>\n

After the pair matched on the celebrity dating app, Raya, in 2020, Biles admitted that she was the one to reach out to Owens first. Biles reached out to Owens via Instagram DM’s where he took notice of her Instagram following. “I’m like, ‘Lemme see who this is.’ I never really paid attention to gymnastics, so it piqued my curiosity,” said the\u00a0NFL player. The first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of [Instagram] followers. So in my mind I’m like, ‘Okay, she’s gotta be good.'” When asked how it was possible that Owen’s didn’t know who Biles was, Owens said, “When\u00a0she won the Olympics, I was in college and we didn’t have NBC, we didn’t have\u00a0Olympics channels, and we were in [training] camp [in] late July, early August. So I’m not paying attention. I never would’ve had a moment where I would’ve watched [her compete].”<\/p>\n
