The actor told\u00a0 Christian Headlines, \u201cGod put conviction on my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hutch stars in the new Great American Pure Flix movie, \u201cA Christmas Blessing,\u201d and has had leading roles in other romantic films like \u201cLove\u2019s Last Resort\u201d and \u201cB&amp;B Merry.\u201d He said one of the reasons he was so keen on filming family-friendly content is the fact that, more often than not, \u201cthere are no surprises.\u201d He explained, \u201cMy kids can just walk in on these movies at any time. And we\u2019re not going to have this crazy, deep conversation about something that we\u2019re not ready for yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hutch\u2019s hard-and-fast rule against nudity and passionate romantic scenes has cost him some jobs over the years. He said, \u201cIn romantic comedies, there\u2019s a kiss. And I have to have that conversation with my wife, with my kids. Obviously, my wife and I have grown together, and we have an understanding of what this is, how we do that, and where our comfort levels are. But my kids \u2014 they\u2019re getting older \u2014 they\u2019re like, \u2018Dad, you are kissing another girl. What\u2019s going on?\u2019 And we\u2019ve had these conversations. So even on that level, you still have to have honest conversations with your loved ones about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/B4hCyh0lNMg?si=_2oxYQWkjpaolrxL\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Regarding explicit content, Hutch said he\u2019s \u201cnot interested in any of that.\u201d He said, \u201cThere\u2019s been a couple of times where I thought, \u2018Would my career have gone a different direction?\u2019 Absolutely. Do I regret it? No.\u201d Hollywood star Neal McDonough\u00a0has a similar policy\u00a0against sexual scenes.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, he acknowledged in 2019 that his conviction against filming sex scenes and nudity cost him a significant role in 2010 when he was dropped from the short-lived ABC series, \u201cScoundrels,\u201d for refusing to perform sex scenes with co-star Virginia Madsen. He said at the time, \u201cIt was a horrible situation for me. After that, I couldn\u2019t get a job because everybody thought I was this religious zealot. I am very religious. I put God and family first and me second. That\u2019s what I live by. It was hard for a few years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since then, though, McDonough credits standing by his convictions for his successes in acting. He said, \u201cAlmost 20 years, five kids, and just one heck of an awesome life later, to have her as my partner in everything, I\u2019m just the most blessed guy I know. That\u2019s why I go to church every day and say \u2018thank you\u2019 to God for everything he\u2019s given me.
