Jamie Lynn Spears is officially a part of Season 32 of “Dancing with the Stars.” ABC revealed the new cast on “Good Morning America,” where Spears was announced as a contestant. She will be paired up with Alan Bersten, making them the first couple officially revealed for the upcoming season. The “Zoey 102” and “Sweet Magnolia” star will join former “Bachelorette” Charity Lawson and “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix where they will compete alongside a handful of other celebrities for the Mirrorball Trophy.<\/p>\n

When asked if she was ready to compete in the show, Spears told GMA, “I don’t know if one can ever be 100% ready to take on something this big; I didn’t realize what a commitment it is, but it definitely is. I’m ready to challenge myself.” Spears revealed that she will be donating her weekly earnings from the show to SAG-AFTRA and the WGA amid their ongoing strike. “While everybody else in my community is on strike, I have this unique opportunity where I was offered a chance to work when my community cannot work. So I figured I’ll do this and I will donate my weekly salary… to just give back to them at a time where they can’t give back to themselves,” she said. When asked how her two children, 5-year-old Ivey and 15-year-old Maddie, reacted to the news, Spears said they have been supportive. “My 15 year old actually was very motivated for me to do this, which was actually very surprising,” she noted. “My 15-year-old was like, \u2018You\u2019re going to dance on TV? What are you doing mom?\u2019 But she was like, \u2018Mom, you have to do it.’ She\u2019s an athlete so I think she wants to see me kind of push myself.” She continued by saying, “Typically I’d be working on different ventures but I think it\u2019s just important that I have this opportunity. And if I get up there and even if I\u00a0embarrass myself, I’m doing it for a good reason and hopefully giving back to the community that’s literally given back to me since I was a little girl.”<\/p>\n

As for Spears and her partner Alan Bersten, the pair noted how well they get along, saying rehearsals have been enjoyable so far. “We had our first rehearsal and it was great,” said Bersten. “Jamie Lynn is so hard-working and so dedicated and it’s actually so much fun. We get along so well.” Spears added saying, “He\u2019s been wonderful. My family got to meet him and he\u2019s been great.
